At the start of the season I put Chelsea striker Didier Drogba in my fantasy football team – it was a bit of a punt, but I had a hunch he’d do well this campaign. No foreign striker playing in England is more suited to succeed than the Drog – he’s fast, skilful and built like an oak wardrobe. If I was a central defender, Drogba would definitely be No.1 on my list of ‘players who I don’t fancy marking’. At times this season he’s been unplayable, and with Frank Lampard, Arjen Robben and Michael Ballack throwing quality balls his way, I don’t expect that to change.
During last night’s Champions League group match against Levski Sofia, Drogba got a hat-trick (he could have had six) and made Andriy Shevchenko look like his young apprentice. Who’d have thought it?
