If Frank Lampard intended for his deft chip to end up in the back of the net against Barcelona last night then it was pure genius. I’m inclined to think he was just hoping to stand the ball up at the back post for someone to tap-in. What do you reckon Pie-ers? Brilliance or fluke?

The goal is in this compilation if you haven’t seen it yet:

Does Lampard ever intend to score? At least this one didn’t deflect off of someone.

  2. Pauly T says:

I hate to say it, but I reckon the fat man did have a go.
Don’t worry Frank watchers, he’ll be back to his deflection inducing best in the next match or so.

No chance, he wasn’t even looking at where he was kicking it.
He couldn’t have done that if he tried, jammy bastard.

  4. Lew says:

Not a chance. Just a dink into the 6 yard box. Not a cow or a banjo in sight.

Granted Lampard scores more than his share of goals of the ankle of an unsuspecting centerback and in off the bar but if he wasn’t trying to score then what the hell WAS that it certainly wasn’t in a teammate’s direction or into space. Lucky that it went in but I think the shot was intentional.
