The World Cups for countries that don’t exist

TibetThere are currently a couple of tournaments underway masquerading as the World Cup for countries that don’t actually exist. The VIVA World Cup is supposedly the official, unofficial World Cup, but it is nigh on impossible to get any news on the tournament and only four teams are competing (hosts Monaco, South Cameroons, Sami and Occitania).

The splinter ELF Cup is actually being better publicised (probably because hosts Northern Cyprus see the competition as a way of boosting tourism). The home nation take on Zanzibar in the semi-finals tomorrow, with Kyrgyzstan and Crimea also battling for a place in the final. Click here for all the latest from the tournament or you can apparently watch matches live here, although I haven’t attempted this yet.
