3904089.jpegPretty much everyone is reporting that West Ham are very close to agreeing a deal, reported to be in the region of £7m, with Newcastle United to sign Scott Parker. Tottenham apparently stuck their noses in at the 11th hour, as they are wont to do when any talented English player is involved, but it seems that the Irons will get their man.
So Alan Curbishley will reunite with the midfielder who played so brilliantly for him when they were together at Charlton. Current West Ham skipper Nigel Medi-Ocre has already handed in a transfer request and will probably leave Upton Park in the summer (Spurs will no doubt want a piece of that too) and so Curbishley will need a new captain. Parker is the ideal man for that role and whilst he’s not a player who’s going to transform your club, Tevez-style, he is a committed, honest pro who West Ham fans will surely warm to.

Lucas Neill has really impressed me Tommy, and I think he’s a great club captain. Parker would be a great deputy though and a fine signing for you guys.
