David Beckham made his long-awaited LA Galaxy debut when he came on as a substitute for the last 12 minutes of the friendly with Chelsea. The former England skipper was expected to miss the game with an ankle injury, but made it on to the pitch much to the delight of the 27,000 sell-out crowd.
He said: “The reaction to me when I just either take my top off or kick the ball has been incredible but it makes me feel a little bit embarrassed at times when I get that sort of reaction. But it’s incredible and I have to thank the people and the fans for coming out to watch the game tonight.”

Despite his best efforts, Becks was unable to turn the game around for the Galaxy who went 0-1 down to a John Terry strike in the 49th minute.

Beckham couldn’t turn it around in 12 minutes against one of the best teams in the world and turn the Galaxy into a world class side?!!! What a shocker!
