rachelyankey.gifThe latest of our slightly reductive attempts to explain the skill of England’s women by comparing them to blokes they sort of play a bit like.
Twenty-six-year-old Arsenal winger Rachel Yankey played like Pennant-on-a-good-day before Pennant ever did – she’s been bringing a bit of sparkle to the world of women’s football since the age of 16. In fact she’s played all over the world and was England’s first professional footballer, before Al Fayed pulled the plug.

She’s got pace, great ball control, vision and can cross the ball from either flank. Nowadays she’s at the all-conquering Arsenal team, and last year she received an MBE for services to football. Plus, she’s never had to play with an unsightly court-ordered tag under her sock. Bonus!
