It’s back and this time we have prizes! Each Friday this season, Pies will run Prem Picks – all you have to do is leave a comment with your predictions (and an email contact address), to stand a chance of winning the weekly prize. This week, we have a DVD of England’s Greatest Players to give away.
Check out Pies’ predictions below…

Saturday 16 August
Arsenal v West Brom
Arsenal looked below-par against Twente, but they will be too strong for the promoted side. 3-0
Bolton v Stoke
Stoke will be tough to break down, but I can’t see where they will get their goals. This will be a scrappy home win. 1-0
Everton v Blackburn
With the departure of Mark Hughes, Brad Friedel and David Bentley, I expect Rovers to struggle a bit this season. Everton still need some new blood, but I think they’ll start with a comfortable win. 3-1
Hull v Fulham
Woy Hodgson has spent wisely in the summer, and Hull will struggle to get a debut win here. Score draw, methinks. 2-2
Middlesbrough v Tottenham
Now we’ll see if Spurs’ fine pre-season form was a false dawn. If the Yids want to challenge the big four in 08/09, they should be winning games like this. And I think they will. 1-2
Sunderland v Liverpool
Won’t be more than a goal in this either way. Home advantage will cancel out Liverpool’s superior quality. 1-1
West Ham v Wigan
A great chance for the Hammers to start the season with a bang. 2-0
Sunday 17 August
Aston Villa v Man City
Both sides played in Europe on Thursday, so they could be a little jaded. Goalless draw. 0-0
Chelsea v Portsmouth
Tough opener for both teams, but Chelsea will overpower ‘Arry’s team. 2-0
Man Utd v Newcastle
United won this fixture easily last season, and although it will be closer on Sunday, I can’t see any other result but a home win. 2-0
Think you can do better? Add your predictions by leaving a comment – don’t forget to include an email address too, so we can contact you if you win (three points for a correct scoreline, one point for a correct result).
Good luck!
