The Black-and-White Years: The Graf Zeppelin buzzes Wembley Stadium, 1930 FA Cup final

The LZ 127 Graf Zeppelin cruises low over Wembley Stadium during the first half of the 1930 FA Cup final between Arsenal and Huddersfield.

At the time, the Zeppelin was the largest airship ever, at around 776ft in length. It made almost 600 flights in its career, becoming the first aircraft to travel more than a million miles, before being retired in 1937.

As for the final, Herbert Chapman’s Gunners won 2-0, thanks to goals by Alex James and Jack Lambert.
