Mini match report: This was one of only two Prem matches to survive the cold weather, and what a fine match it was, with plenty of entertaining, end-to-end play. The only predictable thing about it was that Arsenal would somehow get out of jail with a late equaliser. And so it proved, with Tomas Rosicky firing in off Lucas Neill, their second deflected goal of the game.

The result was VERY harsh on Everton, who hustled brilliantly throughout and played intelligently on the counter-attack. Landon Donovan, making his Prem debut, was a willing outlet on the right flank; the American looked thoroughly at home in English football, tracking back, keeping the dire Armand Traore honest and generally getting stuck in for his side’s cause – that’s all fans ask. Good work, Landycakes. And good work by Steven Pienaar, whose chipped finish to put Everton 2-1 up was sublimely cheeky and well-executed – the South African winger is having a terrific season.

Fair play too to Arsene Wenger for admitting in his post-match interview with the Beeb that Everton deserved to win.
