In which MotD2 guest pundit, the beautiful, beautiful Freddie Ljungberg drops a big bad ‘S’ bomb all over Colin Murray’s lap while explaining the complex dynamic between himself and Lauren at Invincible-era Arsenal…

Still amuses me how appalled and repentant the BBC have to pretend to be when someone swears, even if it was over three hours past the watershed.

+1 vote in favour of open, unashamed swearing in post-match analysis! Might liven things up a tad, no?

(Before anyone quibbles, we only asterisked the ‘shit’ in the headline for impact’s sake)

  1. C says:

The british has to be the biggest hypocrites in the world.
You “have” to excuse for swearwords that slip in on TV, but in normal life, most brits swear worse then sailors.

  2. Alex says:

Well said C, we pretend to cherish rebellion and punk cultures, and still we get this, the mind boggles…

  3. Alex says:

Also most of the ‘faux pas’ like this I’ve seen in football have come from Scandinavian players, their television must be fucking brilliant.

  4. Mr. Chopper says:

Ljungberg and Lawrenson are possibly the most chalk-and-cheese pairing I’ve seen on MOTD.

  5. usrick says:

Scandinavian television is hilarious, especially the adverts.

  6. Liam says:

Ridiculous, half 10 at night and they have to ‘apologise’ for that? Give me a break

  7. Andy says:

“And the ball is crossed from the left and.. FUCKING HELL! Did you see that? JESUS FUCKING CHRIST! How the fuck did he do that?”

“Well Motty, it’s simply a beautiful piece of skill by Oscar. That little bastard just guides the ball into the back of the net, and look at the look on Sir Alex’s face, its like someone shit in his milk.”

“And as we kick off again at Old Trafford, the match has really swung in the favour of Chelsea: those nancy boy southern cunts. Back to you in the studio.”

Better version of the video here, not blurry http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=15CGooiG5qw

  9. Del says:

He said “excuse the language” right afterwards, for me that’s enough to set something as minor as that right.
But there will always be those that will write in lengthy letters complaining so the BBC have got no choice really.

  10. Leon says:

They make a meal out of the word, whereas if they just let it slide like a loose fart, it would be gone and forgotten.

    Agree with C totally.

  11. Souksonne says:

What was actually worse was the way Lawro and Murray stuck it to him afterwards for being a guttermouth. If they’d just let it slide, it wouldn’t have been such an issue. But they insisted on making reference after reference…yawn, he didn’t say cunt, fuck or bugger!

  12. It was about all he did say, at one point I wondered what he was doing on the programme as he was just sitting there.

  13. Swenger says:

We should have left fear of words behind us many many decades ago

  14. Jarren says:

I seem to remember a few years ago many programs had swearing, without any apologies.

Never Mind The Buzzcocks, Have I Got News For You, Jonathan Ross etc.

It is rather surreal to see a host (Colin Murray in this case) staring directly into the camera and offering heartfelt apologies to all & sundry because a rude word was said.

  15. Suede says:

Shit in swedish is a far less obscene swearword than in english. It’s on par with “damn”.

  16. Manager says:

Remember when Souness said Vidic was raped by Torres at half two in the middle of the day. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LkcbUPnVE5I
