Soccer - Barclays Premier League - Arsenal v Tottenham Hotspur - Emirates Stadium

Jack Wilshere is a delicate little flower, largely unable to fend for himself in this big, wide world, so thank goodness then that’s he’s got Mathieu Flamini to back to him up in the middle of the park.

Nothing concrete has been or is likely to be confirmed, but it’s being tentatively reported this morning that the FA wanted a word with Flamini after Arsenal’s 3-1 win over Stoke on Saturday after it was alleged that the French midfielder threatened to ‘blind’ Marc Wilson if he continued going in hard on poor ‘ickle Wilshy.

After Wilson crunched Wilshere’s ankles for the umpteenth time, it is claimed Flamini told the Potters’ man: “Do that again and I will blind you.”

The FA supposedly then warned Flamini about his conduct after the final whistle.

A bit of filth and grit in the Arsenal midfield? Whatever next?!

This is what you wrote: “so thank goodness then that’s he’s Mathieu Flamini back to him up in the middle of the park”

    I don’t get it.

  2. Boob says:

Did he blind WAATP too, cause that’s some rubbish writing.

  3. Jon says:

If Suarez said that, you’d be harping on about how he’s the worst thing to happen to the game.

      Jon,
the key words here are “Nothing concrete, tentatively reported, alleged, claimed. Hardly the kind of evidence that would stand up in court, unlike Suarez, biting not one but 2 players.

  4. SL says:

Grit would be getting his own back physically but he was probably scared to do that.

This just proves hes a chicken and it was obviously an empty threat.

Looks like someone saw perks of being a wallflower.

  6. Stu says:

I bet the Stoke players were shitting themselves.

Great to have the soldier back. He is buy far one of the best signings this year all over. He is a 15 million pound signing and we got him for free. He is a leader and something Arsenal have lacked since Adams.

  8. Boob says:

@john “He is a leader and something Arsenal have lacked since Adams.”

    Or since… Flamini.

  9. Joe says:

So did Flamini go ahead with his threat? It’s difficult to tell when you watch Marc Wilson play.

Good for Flamini -Wilshere was constantlyroughed up as usual and its nice to hear that a team mate is going to retaliate. Not really necessary against Stoke though – the way they play its difficult to be sure that they can see in the first place.

Maybe he was trying to break his ankle this time.

A sign of team cohesion are enforcers. if you played the game you either enforced or you got whacked. This is appreciated. Not unlike keano who stomped southgate who went in after him. Keeps the game honest. chris by your sarcasm it doesnt seem like you get that?

  15. Ediae Cliff says:

This writer is truly an Arsenal hater. What is filthy about an honest warning? That’s never a threat rather it was and is Jack that was and being threatened….by this writer

  16. Parry Bassey says:

I think Flamini wanted to scare off Wilson so that Jack will not be injured and it worked out for Arsenal. Otherwise, maybe by now Jack would have been thinking of one procedure or the other. No one can crucify him for protecting his team mate.

Yes, flamni still holds on the ethos of the invicibles.Back then We had hard guys who couldnt turn the other cheek once roughned by the opposition.Guys like Viera,Mayer ,parlour, and keown stuck in their heads where the current crop of players cannot stick in their legs.

  21. pastor says:

That is good news for Wengers boys. Previous the boys were very timid whenever playing Stoke city and other tough teams. Now they have Flamin to defend them from bad tackles. Weldone Flamin Keep it up. Don’t let your young bros humiliated.

  22. Akie says:

You imply wilshere can’t stand up for himself, I remember numerous occasions last year where he got up and got straight into peoples faces, so your obviously jealous of arsenal having him and also them being top of the league. HAHA
