West Bromwich Albion – Arsenal – Premier League – 29th November 2014
A powerful Danny Welbeck header gave Arsenal a much-need victory at the Hawthorns on Saturday, a result which put the Gunners, at least temporarily, back in the top four.
The visitors produced a solid display, helped by the return of Laurent Koscielny to the starting line-up while Olivier Giroud returned in a central striking role. Arsenal produced some fine inter-play but all too often a cutting-edge was lacking. The Baggies, on the other hand, struggled to trouble Arsenal’s young ‘keeper Emiliano Martinez and din’t manager to direct a shot on target until the 54th minutes. Welbeck’s goal came on the hour-mark after superb work from Santi Cazorla However, as the game wore on, the hosts started to create chances and were unlicky not to equalise late on after a sustained period of pressure.
Arsenal go fourth, at least until the 3pm games finished while Alan Irvine’s struggling side are 13th , just three points clear of the drop-zone.
