Arsenal 3-0 Stoke City – Premier League – 11th January 2015

Alexis Sanchez produced yet another man of the match performance as the Gunners swept aside Stoke at the Emirates.

The hosts dominated the game and were 1-0 up after just six minutes, when an unmarked Laurent Koscielny headed home a Sanchez centre. The Chilean star then doubled the Gunners’ advantage just after the half-hour mark, when he fired home superbly after good inter-play with Tomas Rosicky. One negative for the north Londoners int he first-half was an injury to Mathieu Debuchy, who dislocated his should after being pushed into the advertising hoardings by an unpunished Marko Arnautovic.

After the break, the home side continued to dominate and Sanchez netted his second of the game on 49 minutes, with his free-kick going in via Asmir Begovic and the post. Mark Hughes continued to struggle to threaten David Ospina’s goal, although sub Stephen Ireland did test the Colombian ‘keeper late on.

The result sees Arsenal leapfrog rivals Spurs into fifth place, with the sub appearances of both Theo Walcott and Mesut Ozil the icing on the cake of a fine day. The Potters, on the other hand, go 11th.
