Arsenal 3-0 West Ham United – Premier League – 14th March 2015
Arsenal moved to within a point of second-placed Manchester City after a fine win at home to West Ham.
The Gunners bossed the game, but with Theo Walcott failing to make the most of a couple of a good first-half chances, it took until just before the break for the breakthrough to come. In-form striker Olivier Giroud was the man to net that vital goal, with the Frenchman blasting home after a superb move involving Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey.
After the break, the Hammers started to threaten the Arsenal goal, but ultimately it was the hosts who would score again. Aaron Ramsey made it 2-0 on 81 minutes after another fine move while sub Mathieu Flamini finished off the scoring late on.
Now just a point behind Man City and in the FA Cup semi-finals, the Gunners season is looking a whole lot better. Although their hopes of turning around a 1-3 aggregate score in Monaco in midweek may prove a little too difficult to realise. As for Sam Allardyce’s Hammers, they stay 10th
