The slightly ridiculously high stead that Theo Walcott is held at Arsenal has been demonstrated once again today with the news that the forward has signed a new four-year contract at The Emirates, worth £140,000-a-week.

Those weekly earnings mean that Walcott is now the joint-highest paid player at Arsenal, on a par with Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez, despite having only managed to stay fit for a smattering of games over the course of the last two years.

Unsurprisingly, Theo was quick to thank his agents…

What an expensive old summer this one is turning out to be.

He has got to be one of the most overrated, one-trick-pony players I’ve ever seen. Panics infront of goal, crosses are hit and miss, completely one dimensional. It’s like with Hodgson: first thing anyone says about him is “nice man”; with Walcott it’s “he runs quick”. That is pretty much the extent of his ‘talent’. Averages 1 goal every 4 games is hardly top stuff. He is lucky Arsenal and Wenger like him so much, I highly doubt he’d make the bench at Chelsea, City or United.

And to say he is “the same” as Sanchez or Ozil is insane… almost as insane as saying Rooney is worth more in 1 week’s pay than Sanchez and Ozil combined.

    Embarrassing.
