It’s now almost six years since Aaron Ramsey broke his leg away to Stoke after a horror challenge from Ryan Shawcross. However, the repercussions of the incident continued to echo around the Britannia Stadium on Sunday, with the home fans once again targeting the Welsh midfielder with some ridiculous abuse.

The ever-present bee in Stoke fans’ bonnets is the apparent fact that after snapping Ramsey’s leg in two places, a distraught Shawcross tried to contact the Arsenal man to apologise. However, Ramsey, who spent eight months out of action after the potentially career-ending challenge, never replied to the Stoke man.

As well as constantly booing the former Cardiff City star, the Potters’ fans sang “Aaron Ramsey, he walks with a limp” throughout the game, which is just lovely. Now correct me if I’m wrong here, but surely Ramsey had every right not to accept the apology. After all, he does remain the victim?

Anyway, the Gunners’ star ignored the abuse and at one point even seemed to wave in the direction of the chanters. He also made a fine clearance off the Arsenal goal-line. Surely it’s about time the Stoke fans in question had a word with themselves?

As for the game itself, the two ‘keepers were the men of an enthralling match, with a draw a fair result. That stalemate sees the Gunners return to the top of the Premier League table, ahead of Leicester on goal difference. As for Mark Hughes’ Stoke side, they stay seventh.

…anyone who gets a high and satisfaction from the knowledge of someone else’s misfortune is clearly a very happy person right? RIGHT?

How was a draw a fair result I really fail to see, from a neutral point of view there should have been a total of 3 penalties awarded, 2 for Arsenal, 1 for Stoke, also, did referee forget his card book in changing room? Systematic fouling that was applied by Stoke completely ruined the game and referee compiled it by not doing anything about it.

That picture of the stoke fans reminds me of a scene from Lords of the Rings…

Is this the same Arsenal whose players provoke fans through social media and intice riots during games with what the media call “banter?”

Anon @1.02pm; erm, so you’re really suggesting that AFC players’ social media use winds up opposition ‘fans’? Don’t follow them/click on the links, then. Did you also mean to suggest that ‘bants’ incites riots? Really? #mug #triplemug Notice that i corrected your malapropism whereas John @1.17pm corrected your spelling.

Surely it’s far more impressive that Stoke fans manage to walk without brains? They should write a song about that….or have someone write one for them.

    …and it’s ‘incite’.

  9. Potter says:

Is that the Arsenal fans who hurl racial abuse at Spurs fans

Usually whenever stoke fans are being mentioned, the word sheep shagger comes to mind. And the fact that they take pride in being bigots is just wonderful. So your defence for being a untermensch is hitting back at arsenal fans for social media harassment and shouting anti-semitic chants at spurs fans? The same chant they embrace with pride? Can’t you see the irony in that? No? Good.
