Strangely unpopular across the board of late, Olivier Giroud was booed by the home fans during France’s friendly with Cameroon in Nantes on Tuesday night – who chanted absent striker Karim Benzema’s name all night.
However, the Arsenal hitman still managed to score a fine volley, with West Ham’s Dimitri Payet netting a superb free-kick late on to wrap it up for Les Bleus.
Goals from Blaise Matuidi and Vincent Aboubakar made the scores level before, on 41 minutes, Paul Pogba conjured up an incredible assist for Giroud, who coolly volleyed home…

There will be high expectation in this summer’s Euro 2016 from the host’s fans, with Giroud in particular sure to be under huge pressure to perform in place of Benzema, who has been cut from the squad for being a bit of a prat, among other things.
However, with the likes of Pogba and the revitalised Payet, France surely have a decent chance of glory.
