Arsenal got their pre-season underway with a hard-fought 1-1 draw away to French Ligue 2 side Lens. Arsene Wenger put out a mix and match side, with many of his more senior players not involved. However, it was Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain who would score the Gunners’ equaliser, after deftly chipping the Lens ‘keeper.
Lens took the lead on 37 minute, with Mathias Autret scoring after a poor defensive header. However, late on, Arsenal levelled the scores, with sub Oxlade-Chamberlain producing an outstanding chip after being set up by Serge Gnabry…

There is no doubting Oxlade-Chamberlain’s ability, however, too often the attacker has flattered to deceive with Arsenal. At 22 years old, the ex-Southampton really needs a good season, unbroken by injury, if he is to push on and finally start to make the most of his undoubted talent.
