Many Arsenal fans were perplexed (what’s new!) by Arsene Wenger’s decision this summer to sell winger Serge Gnabry despite the winger’s superb displays for Germany during the summer Olympics. And after seeing the 21-year-old’s wonder-strike for Werder Bremen at the weekend, fans of the north Londoners will be even more frustrated.

After four years at Arsenal which saw him endure a disappointing loan spell with West Brom, Gnabry moved permanently to Werder Bremen in the summer on the back of a successful Olympics which saw him end the tournament as the joint top-scorer with six goals.

On Saturday, Gnabry’s Bremen side suffered a heavy 4-1 defeat away to Borussia Mönchengladbach. However, with the score at 4-0, the winger produced a magnificent strike to give the travelling fans at least something to cheer…

What a fine strike!

With Joel Campbell also sold and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain struggling to rediscover his best form this season, one wonders if Gnabry could have provided the Gunners with a decent goal-scoring option out wide this season.
