While fellow Premier League pace-setters Man City endured a torrid time in Barcelona, Arsenal strolled to victory at the Emirates against Ludogorets Razgrad, putting six past the Bulgarian minnows.

The game was crammed full of a superb goals as the Gunners took their opponents apart. Alexis Sanchez opened the scoring after just 12 minutes, lighting up the Emirates with an exquisite chip.

Despite going a goal down early on, Ludogorets Razgrad rallied and threatened the Arsenal goal on more than one occasion, with Wanderson hitting the post.

However, just before half-time, the in-form Theo Walcott made it 2-0 with a cracking effort from outside the box.

Soon after the re-start, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain got in on the act, neatly firing home from inside the box as the hosts ran riot.

But there was still time for Ozil’s hat-trick, which came via three measured finishes and two assists from sub Lucas Perez.

That was the German playmaker’s first hat-trick in senior football and takes his tally to six for the season already. While overall, the Gunners extend their unbeaten run to an impressive 11 games.

While it’s still early days and Wednesday’s opponents provided little in the way of a test, Arsenal look have a much-improved maturity and depth in their squad this time around which bodes well for the rest of the campaign.
