“See ya… wouldn’t want to be ya.”

If, as reported by smug tosser Guillem Balague, Cesc Fabregas has told Arsene Wenger that he wants away to Barcelona, how much cash should Arsenal hold out for? A straight fee, or cash plus one Barcelona player.

In Wenger’s shoes, I’d try for something like £30m-plus-Yaya Toure.

What do you think is a good deal for Arsenal’s captain?

    40mil +

    we don’t need Yaya

  2. kptm says:

    i wrecken 40 – 50 mil… fabregas has talent that no one has!….

  3. leroy says:

i take it the both of u guys are gunners…well lets be honest on this one…really…is he worth so much in the market or to arsenal????Can u actually blame fab for wanting to move…or are u blaming barcelona for being successful…and u guys are making so much noise that why do we want him and we shud mind our own business…well hmmmm i wonder who started this.. :) deal or no deal…it will be very clear when next season starts and fab is still with you guys…with his mind still pondering on the possibility of moving to barca…just like how henry din perform in his final season after arsenal then again rejected tht offer back then :)

  4. Ben says:

at the moment i would only value yaya at around 10 mill. making that deal 40 mill total. which is an absolute minimum for arsenal me thinks. might sound crazy but i would suggest 30 mill + yaya and henry. a good deal all round, coming in at around 50 mill

  6. Matt says:

There’s no way Ronaldo is worth twice as much as Fabregas. But Fabregas is twice the player Berbatov is. Joe Cole is available on a free.

    Go figure.

  7. Talonade says:

Hi All, Im new here, great site…

I think Fabregas is priceless, and Barca know it.

Id start with something like £60M plus Henry plus Ibra (who could then be flogged to some gullible upstarts like Man City), set stall out early, then settle for 45M plus Henry and Ibra and a couple of youth team picks

  8. Ollie says:

    LOL @ Michael

and welcome Talonade! What took you so long!?

    1,000,000,000£+Pique+Messi+Xavi+Iniesta+Chygrynskiy=)

£30 Mil, Yaya Toure + Bojan

  11. Dickie says:

I suppose the point here is that, with Fábregas tied down until 2014, Arsenal can pretty much demand whatever they want. To compare it to Ronaldo, yeah Cesc should probably fetch about £60 million based on that. However if you look at the Barca team at the moment, they already have Xavi, who is as good as Cesc, if not better, so how much would they be willing to invest anyway? I suppose it might well be somewhat of a stand-off considering Wenger doesn’t have to sell. Cesc has said he wants to go, but how much will Barca willingly part with. If it were my decision, I’d want Yaya, Bojan, and £30 million. Wenger’s not a massive one for the old swap deals though, and I suspect this deal might well last the summer unless Barca put down silly money.

  12. NUWASASIRA COLLINS says:

Hi all if we are to let fabrigas go, we need to sell him at 50m + yaya toure and zalatan ibrahimovic. how do you seeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee it.

  13. chet says:

£50 mil baseline. then add at least 1 young player like jeffren, pedro.

  14. chris charteris says:

If Ronaldo is worth £80 – why are you lot prepared to settle for £30-40m? Do you think Ronaldo is TWICE as good as Fabregas?

I’d ask for £65m and settle for £60m. If they don’t like it, he still has FOUR years left on his contract so no need to panic. Buy a top notch keeper and centre half and he might even be happy to stay (a bit)!

  15. MoTe says:

If Xabi Alonso is worth 30mil to RM, Fabregas is worth at least 40-50mil (cash only, no players). Yaya Toure would rather play with his brother at Man City, little Bojan and Pedro are too frail for the Premier League, and Busquets is Diaby in disguise. For 50mil, plus the Adebayor/Toure money, they could get Gourcuff, Lloris, another centre back (Simon Kjaer or Mahmadou Sahko), and a backup defensive midfielder (Felipe Melo possibly). They could basically bring in another backbone to the team….

  16. SF says:

“If Ronaldo is worth £80 – why are you lot prepared to settle for £30-40m? Do you think Ronaldo is TWICE as good as Fabregas?”

It is not that black and white. First yes Ronaldo (whom I detest) is better than Fabregas. Not twice as much but better. But more importantly he is considerably more marketable than Fabregas and that is where the extra value in his transfer was seen. Ronaldo sells shirts by the shitload for Real and raises their profile internationally.

Internationally Fabregas struggles to make it into Spain’s starting XI.

  17. Eboue says:

    Five times more than Berbatov

  18. Binnsey says:

A lot of Arsenal fans here then…
    65mil eh?

Fabregas is a great player, and if Ronaldo is worth 85m, then 50mil is probably not a bad shout. However I don’t think he’ll that big of a loss… If they can get 50mil for him then he’s got to go… Arsenal have much bigger fish to fry. With the funds generated I would love to see them buy a Flamini type player, Buffon and probably flog Van Persie too and get in a 20-30 goal a season striker. Arsenal need to be tougher and more experienced against the Stoke’s, Bolton’s and Birmingham’s to be more competitive for the title.

Having said that… Good point by SF ‘Fabregas struggles to make it into Spain’s starting XI’ – I can’t see Barcelona pushing much further than the 30mil mark.

  19. Bo Bandy says:

Funny, Arsenal did the double over Stoke & Bolton this season and would have done the double over Birmingham as well if it wasn’t for one inept goalkeeper!

Arsenal can beat the weaklings, but only 1 win versus Chelsea/ManU/City/Spurs won’t do.

  20. ollie says:

well ….fab is on about what ronaldo was on and h is abot the same improtance to team as ronaldo was so should b about 45m+yaya or 60m at least….

  21. ollie says:

i dont thin that he would get into the team this season i think he would have o wait for other players o get a bit older. i think he should go nxt season or the one after that

  22. Gooner says:

    50M + Valdez + Puyol + Pique + Alves + Xavi + Iniesta + Toure + Pedro + Messi + Ibra + Henry + Bojan + Guardiola
    That’s a deal!!!

  23. zano says:

Arsenal should use Terry Tibbs as their broker.

“sixty fahhhvve million. Tawk to me”.

  24. Thomas says:

Barcelona paid $100M(US) for Ibrah when it’s all said and done(including the $65M + Eto exchange($20M) + Helb(roughly $10M). I think it’s ridiculous how they try to justify paying less than half for a player THEY want. Arsenal have to replace him, but it seems that Barcelona want him and he wants to go back to Barcelona. Barcelona should pay a premium for him, simple as that. Arsenal should set the price at whatever they see fit, he’s under contract. Either pay what Arsenal wants for Cesc, or kick rocks and find another Cesc for cheaper.

  25. simon says:

some of these comments are way off. love the enthusiasm but be realistic, and you CANT USE RONALDO AS A BENCHMARK. a realistic deal would be 30m + yaya & bojan (but why would barca want to sell those players)……. 60m cash is more realistic.

LET ME SHARE SOME KNOWLEDGE to all the DUNCE people out there:
cesc is a great player, but if you look at when ronaldo was sold, he was d best according to paper, just before messi take over. so you cant compare his price with cesc.
ibra was also sold when he was performing an had good records on paper, even though cesc is a better player dan ibra, cesc cant prove it on paper. xavi and iniesta and d others r all great player for barca. Messi however is the best player ever seen. both in real an on paper.
i would say 40m for cesc OR 25m plus yaya toure.
which is a great deal. sold………

  27. bob says:

i agree, that guy makes alot of sense, no. 26-rigault. an we should focus on getting a replacement for our captain.

  29. Gilly says:

You can not compare Fabregas to Ronaldo. When Ronaldo went he was the best in the world. On the other hand Fabregas is not the best in the world. Also Ronaldo sell dozens of shirts every day and actually further raise Real Madrid’s club profile. Now that takes some doing.

If I were Arsene I woung accept £50 M any day.

  30. weedonald says:

OK you AMATEUR Football managers…here’s the hard truth: Cesc NEVER said he wanted to go to Barca this year…noone was there when he talked to Wenger but based on what has been accurately reported by Wenger,Cesc and the Arsenal website here is what transpired:

1)Wenger – what do you want Cesc?
    2) Cesc – I want silverware and to get that Arsenal need 2 better keepers,1-2 centrebacks, more bench strength, and a 30goal a year scorer, as well as an experienced defensive midfielder who can kick those lazy buggers arses when they start doing an Arshavin!!!
    3) Wenger – daccord…remember that you have a firm contract until 2014 so you’re not going anywhere but we will bring in some reinforcements this year I promise!
    4) Cesc – OK Arsene -you are like a father to me so I believe you…I will go to the WC and win it and when I return like a triumphant little Cesar Arsenal better have more than Chamakh in their stable…comprende?
    5) Wenger – seems juste to me…go have fun in South Africa and bring me back a Vuvuzuela…bon!

Cesc has said he is committed LONG TERM to Arsenal provided they become men and not boys. Wenger has said that he will strengthen the team with skilled, experienced players, particularly in defense. So far Chamakh is in (fits the bill) and Joe Cole may be in (even better fit). Ater the WC we will see him sign a keeper (experienced and reliable), at least 1 centre half and a defensive midfielder.

barca are also in a finicial crisis and only have 50m to spend on players just putting that in there
