Cesc Fabregas demonstrates his excellent first touch
Sunderland defender Anton Ferdinand has admitted that he is ‘embarrassed’ about the goal his side conceded to Arsenal on Saturday, branding Cesc Fabregas‘ fortuitous strike a ‘freak goal’.
With the game goalless, Ferdinand struck a defensive clearance against the on-rushing Fabregas resulting in the ball looping backwards over the head of Sunderland ‘keeper Simon Mignolet and into the net from 30+ yards out.
“It was one of those moments when you want the ground to swallow you up, it was that embarrassing,” said Ferdinand.
“If I got shut down like that five times this season, it wouldn’t happen again. I was devastated, not just for myself but for the fans and the lads. I should have got on the ball quicker. It was a freak goal. I had to make sure it didn’t affect my game.”

it’s a shame really, sunderland played extremely well and deserved the point (if not three) far more than arsenal
@fellaini’s fro
are you serious? sure, the first half sunderland played decently, but they were completely crushed in the 2nd half by a 10 man team without their best player. arsenal just didn’t convert (as usual).

eh good defenders get to the ball faster so strikers don’t get a chance
