I love the childish, slightly camp tug-of-love battles that go on between the big clubs at this time of the year. They always follow the same script:
Real Madrid: ‘Ooh, I like the look of young Cesc. Such a nice boy…’
Arsenal: ‘Get your eyes off him, you big Spanish bully – he’s mine, all mine and you can’t have him…’
Anyway, Fabregas seems happy to stay at Arsenal for five more years, but I’m sure he’ll want to return to his homeland in his mid-twenties. Btw, it’s worth contrasting Cesc’s dignified behaviour with that of Senor Tantrum, Cristiano Ronaldo. Not all young footballers are vainglorious idiots.
