In Pictures: Arsenal 2-1 Birmingham City

By Ollie Irish

Since the Taylor-Eduardo clash, this has become a fraught fixture, and Saturday’s match was no different. Arsenal deserved to win, but it should be said that Marouane Chamakh won every bit of the penalty that led to his side’s equaliser, after the unfeasibly enormous Nikola Zigic headed the visitors in front. Chamakh’s winning goal was well-taken, though.

Arsenal’s comeback win, which saw them climb to second in the Prem table, was marred by a red card shown to Jack Wilshere. To Arsene Wenger’s credit, he graciously accepted the decision (ref Martin Atkinson had little choice but to send Wilshere off), but such grace often comes easier on the back of three points.
