In Pictures: Arsenal 5-1 Shakhtar Donetsk, Champions League

By Ollie Irish

Cesc Fabregas made his comeback from injury and lo, all was just fine. Arsenal shared the goals around, with (in order) Alex Song, Samir Nasri, Cesc, Jack Wilshere and Marouane Chamakh all getting on the scoresheet – that’s 14 goals in just three European matches.

And to rub it in, an ex-Arsenal player, Eduardo, scored a consolation goal for the visitors. It was Total Gooner Domination – not a combination of words I enjoy typing, but they were very impressive last night; Fabregas and Wilshere is a midfield combo I would pay good money to watch.

A midfield of Song-Cesc-Wilshire and a front line of Arshavin-Chamakh-Nasri, you have to admit, is formidable. Especially when the Verm gets back and tightens up the defence.
