Celtic 0-2 Arsenal: mature Gunners show skill and steel

Arsenal won’t score a pair of luckier goals this season, but they deserved their luck. The Premier League side outclassed Celtic – Tony Mowbray’s team didn’t play that badly but ran out of steam – and will surely now finish the job at the Grove and progress through to the CL’s group stage.
Celtic, and their vociferous supporters, tried to intimidate Arsenal but failed. Gooners should take great heart from the fact that their team has taken on two very physical teams in their back yard and come away with clear wins.
It’s too early to predict that Wenger’s side will conquer all in 09/10 but there is a growing feeling that his team has finally matured. Of course, one or two key injuries will change all that but now’s not the time to be negative – even as a Spurs fan, I don’t mind admitting that I enjoy watching this Arsenal side.

being fair the 2nd goal wasn’t that lucky .. a good ball played in that needed the defender to clear otherwise bendtner would have scored .. gary caldwell just not good enough to deal with it

Imam Akeem Babatunde- why is arsenal going left?

anonymous, he means that Arsenal are going to LIFT the Champions league if there arent any disastrous injury problems

First goal was lucky, second they didn’t even score, Bendtner handled in the box. Not to say we deserved a dramatically different result–we let them keep the ball and attack when we needed goals the most . . .

Celtic were playing for the draw and were going to try to beat arsenal with an away goal but that has been spoiled now and we are going to make it easily = )
I just hope that Eduardo starts on sat. He suits the position more than Van Persie who needs to move to either side. I also think that the striking line should start rotating so that we suffer less injuries.
I am wondering if the Van Der Vart rumour is true as i believe that by the end of the year Wenger will start regularly playing Wilshere. WATCH THIS SPACE.
We only need cover for CB (and maybe Dm (although Diaby looks to have improved over the summer)) I would love Wenger to bring in just one defender to bring cover. I think this is the signing Wenger will make on the 1st.
Shame to all who thought we couldn’t compete!
