After fluffing a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 with Boca Juniors on Saturday, an 84th-minute Kyle Bartley (who’s wikipedia photo is hilarious, by the way) own-goal on Sunday afternoon cancelled out RVP’s opener and saw New York Red Bulls snatch a 1-1 draw and the Emirates Cup itself – i.e, the only trophy Arsenal usually manage to win these days.

Other points of note: Starchy FIFA officials barred NY’s Thierry Henry from playing the last five minutes for his former side, Jack Wilshere hobbled off after seven minutes with an ankle injury and is now expected to miss England’s friendly against Holland on August 10th and Arsenal – ludicrous as it sounds – were booed off the field after failing to get going in an ultimately meaningless pre-season friendly.

Looks like the Gunners are in for a long old season at this rate.

Highlights (apologies in advance for the naff quality)…

I will rather take the loss of Emirates cup to the New York Red Bull as a positive sign.
Since inception, Arsenal had won the cup until now that the NYRB captured it under our nose.
The boys may have thought winning that cup was something but now that they have lost it, I am sure our boys will fight to bring at least a cup back home by May 2012.

Mr.Wright……your usual hyperbole and exaggeration is totally inaccurate. A few moronic plastic fanboy clowns booed the team but the vast majority cheered both teams and realized that it was just a friendly exhibition, a Sunday run-out and nothing more.

Sad stories of a stubborn team manager and his bosses, thanks we have talked enough we want actions, and one of them is what happened on.

The game is still the same,as left from the last season, pass, pass, pass,no penetrative runs, except the opposite side quite contented to seat back and catch the ARSEnal defenders,to do catch-up.
Arsenal must be prepared to open their checkbook, and get the star defenders in as soon as possible.
Overall its sad to see Arsenal are not moving forward,at least for now, which breaks my hearthhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhht.

  8. Murray says:

The day an American club wins a trophy created by a top European club that has never lost it before is still probably the best day for USA league soccer since Chelsea lost 1-0 against the MLS All-Stars in 2006.

    Those stewardess hats are ridiculous.

Even if arsene wenger hired all the players of this world he will never get any good thing out of them bcos of his stinginess and selfcentered, wenger is never a victorious ever since i knew him as a coach, is a failure i can bet the whole emirate this coming new season wenger has nix to show up. He spoiled my day whenever ARSENAL loses i got pissed off by him wenger is a gambler no doubt about that crazy.
