Joleon Lescott’s now infamous explanation for that flashy car Tweet after Aston Villa’s 6-0 defeat to Liverpool remains one of the more ridiculous moments of the season so far.

On Saturday during the Villans’ clash with Stoke City, the Potters’ media team decided to have a little fun with the centre-half’s faux pax.

Hearing that the Villa fans at the Britannia Stadium had devised a fine new ‘Joleon Lescott – he’s got a new car’ chant, the Stoke Twitter folk responded with this clever couple of posts…

As for the game itself, flash car or no flash car, Lescott couldn’t help stop his side go down 2-1 to Stoke, a result which leaves Remi Garde’s strugglers bottom of the table and eight points away from safety. As for Mark Hughes’ Potters, they go eighth.
