The Treble: New Betting League, First Table Published
By Ollie Irish
Welcome to the second edition of The Treble, Pies’ new weekly betting column, sponsored by the most excellent folks at Titan Bet.
How it works:
1. Pies selects three bets from the coming weekend’s action
2. We make OUR predictions
3. YOU make your predictions
_____________________________________________
After the first week’s predictions the league table looks like this:
Mathers 1
Cole 1
Ollie 1
Paddy 1
Mizman 0
Chringle 0
AFJ 0
Kipp 0
Ashley 0
MoX 0
Simon 0
Tommy 0
Mr Moon 0
Raybuck Luck 0
Calum 0
Binnsey 0
No one predicted that Paul Scholes would score Man Utd’s first goal, and only a couple of you saw a Spurs/Spurs win against Chelsea (good work, Mathers and Paddy). Cole and I both got Inter’s 2-0 win over Juve spot-on, which means we’re equal first. Go us! Early days though – this ‘season’ will run until the end of the 2010 World Cup. There will be prizes for the top tipsters. PRIZES!

This week’s treble (even if you didn’t take part last week, feel free to join in and I’ll add you to the league table):
1. Man Utd vs Tottenham – Match result
Massive, must-win game for United. And a chance for Spurs to pull off consecutive wins against Arsenal, Chelsea and the reigning champions. Spurs are the form team but their record against United is poor so I’m tipping a UNITED WIN.
BET ON THIS
2. Chelsea vs Stoke – Correct score
Can Chelsea cope with Rory Delap’s long throw-ins. I think so. After a nervy first 30mins, I expect the Blues to show their class and win at a canter. I predict a 3-0 CHELSEA WIN.
BET ON THIS
3. Barcelona vs Xerez – First goalscorer
Should be an easy home win, but who’ll break the deadlock? I’ll go for the obvious choice and tip LIONEL MESSI, even though I was tempted to go with the in-form Pedro.
So, let’s have it…

Manchester United v Tottenham. Result: Man utd WIN
Chelsea v Stoke. Result : 2-1 Chelsea Win
Barcelona v Xerez. Fist Goalscorer: Messi
1. Man Utd vs Tottenham – Spurs win
2. Chelsea vs Stoke – 5-2
3. Barcelona vs Xerez – I will go with the in-form Pedro
1. Man Utd vs Tottenham – Man Utd Win
2. Chealsea vs Stoke – 3-0 Chelsea Win
3. Barcelona vs Xerez – Messi
Man Utd drawing at home, Chelsea Win and Bojan scoring the first.
1. Man U v Spurs – Draw
2. Chelsea v Stoke – 2-1 Chelsea
3. Barcelona v Xerez – Ibrahimovic
1. Man Utd vs Tottenham – Spurs win
2. Chelsea vs Stoke – 3-0 and Title
3. Barcelona vs Xerez – Jeronimo Cabrera Momo
1. Man Utd vs Spurs? – Man Utd win
2. Chelsea vs Stoke? – Chelsea 4-0 win
3. Barcelona vs Xerez? – Messi
1. Man Utd vs Tottenham – Tottenham have been outstanding the latter half of the season. Bale and Pavlyuchenko have really stepped up with both convincing in recent games against both Arsenal and Chelsea. However, with both Arsenal and Chelsea struggling last week the title is wide open and Chelsea have it all to lose. Think United will really leap on this renewed opportunity to pressure them and take all 3 points from Old Trafford.
United Win
2. Chelsea vs Stoke – Stoke have been really good this season at grinding out away games which has really cemented them in mid-table. They are great at soaking up pressure but with Delap and Fuller are able to take maximum advantage of dead-ball situations so discipline is going to be key. With Terry suspended can see Stoke nicking a goal at Stamford Bridge but Chelsea will reply.
Chelsea to win 2-1
3. Barcelona vs Xerez – despite midweek travels this is an easy game for Barca but they seemed tired midweek so I think Messi will drop back to play much more of playmaker role. Pedrito has been knocking in goals for Barca lately so see him getting the first goal in what should be a convincing home victory.
Pedrito to score first
1. Man Utd win
2. Chelsea 1-0 Stoke
3. Pedro
1. Man U win
2. Chelsea 1 – Stoke 1
3. Ibrahimovic
