SATURDAY
Blackburn v Portsmouth: Both teams are in a decent position to avoid relegation (Rovers are six points off the drop zone, while Pompey have a seven-point cushion), so a draw here will do nicely for Big Sam and Pingu’s old man. 0-0
Bolton v Sunderland: A huge, HUGE game for the Mackems, who must hope that Bolton’s players fall into the trap of thinking “we’re safe”. I smell another draw. 1-1
Everton v Tottenham: If Spurs win this they’ll be just six points behind Everton, which is a pretty remarkable job by ‘Arry Redknapp and co. However, they won’t win this, so forget I just wrote that. 1-0
Fulham v Aston Villa: Martin O’Neill’s team seems to be getting over their blip, and given their decent away record, I fancy Villa to snaffle three points. 2-3

Hull v Stoke: If free-falling Hull are going to stay up, they simply must win this match. A home tie against Stoke – who are sitting pretty in 13th – gives them a pretty decent shot. 1-0
West Brom v Wigan: Another massive, must-win game. Again, West Brom couldn’t have been presented with a nicer match, on paper at least; Wigan have nothing to play for. 2-1
West Ham v Liverpool: Zola’s team isn’t strong enough to stop Rafa Benitez’s big red truck. Away win, Liverpool to keep the heat on Man Utd. 0-2
SUNDAY
Man Utd v Man City: Form counts for nothing in local derbies, so they say. They are wrong. United will win this at a canter. 2-0
Arsenal v Chelsea: The Champions League Losers’ Showdown. I suppose Chelsea could still win the league, but they’ll be awfully flat after Wednesday’s CL defeat. With Andrey Arshavin set to return for Arsenal, I think the Gooners will do enough for a point. 1-1
MONDAY
Newcastle v Middlesbrough: The biggest match of the weekend programme, without question. A draw is no good for either side, so we should be in for a ridiculously tense 90 minutes. Boro looked doomed to me, and my gut says that Big Alan will get his first win, albeit by the narrowest of margins. 2-1
