Apologies as we’re a little late on this one but, after bringing you news that Breno’s house had been gutted by fire last week, news is filtering through that the Bayern Munich defender has been arrested by German police on suspicion of having started the blaze himself.

According to BILD, Breno was arrested by the Munich Prosecutor’s office to prevent him fleeing or tinkering with evidence as the 21-year old Brazilian is suspected of ‘grave arson’ after the fire caused almost €1 million’s worth of damage to the house in Gruenwald.

But wait, there’s more. An official spokesperson for Munich’s public prosecutor’s office said they are refusing to rule out any possibilities out, and that they have evidence that indicate that the fire was ‘no accident’.

Indeed, several German television news stations are reporting that apparently Breno handed over three cigarette lighters to the first paramedics that showed up and told them to ‘get rid of these’ and that several sources for the fire have been pinpointed – rather than just the one.

It’s also come to light that Breno was made to visit the Max-Planck Psychiatry on Friday (two days after the fire) at the behest of his club, though the rumours are yet to be confirmed and it is thought that it may have been in conjunction with his continued attempts to shake off a career-threatening knee injury.

Christ on a bike, let’s hope so.
