In which the entire Ghana squad amass in a corridor at their team hotel for a morale-boosting jam last night, i.e, the night before their African Cup of Nations 2012 opener against Botswana today (a game currently in progress)…

As our pals over at The FCF have pointed out; could you imagine Messrs Lampard, Gerrard, Terry et al taking up thy tambourines for an impromptu corridor-based boogaloo before a game? No, no you can’t.

This is quite sweet. While making his way into the club’s training ground, Raul is handed a CD by a group of Schalke fans. The CD contains a version of the ‘theme tune’  - a chant titled ‘Señor Raul’ - they had recorded themselves.

Raul then proceeds to play the CD on the short drive through to the pitches, singing along and waving his fingers merrily, before cranking up the volume just before the final turn and cruising into the car park with his own theme song blaring from his car.

Admit it. You’re jealous…

After the teaser GIF was leaked t’other day, Arsene Wenger and Roy Hodgson’s new musical venture (we need to think of a suitable band name folks!) have finally gotten things off the ground, jamming together for the first time and running through an instrumental piece which features guest appearances from a few familiar faces…

How about a name people? Any suggestions? All we’ve got is ‘Wenger & Woy’s Wed Hot Wock ‘n’ Woll Wevue’, which is, needless to say, a bit wubbish.

In recent years, there has been a constant trickle of players from Northern Ireland switching allegiances to the Republic, including Manchester United’s Darron Gibson and Stoke City’s Marc Wilson. Now, Northern Ireland legend Gerry Armstrong, who is currently the Irish FA’s ‘elite player mentor’, has suggested that ditching ‘God Save The Queen’ could entice more players from the country’s nationalist background to play for the North.

“It is an issue which is sensitive to a lot of nationalist lads,” he added.” It (the anthem) was an issue that was brought up on several occasions and it’s something that I am aware of.”

“It might have been a reason, maybe, why some of them didn’t want to play for Northern Ireland, ” continued the 63-cap former player. “I do think it’s something that needs to be talked about. Where it goes, I just don’t know.”

Both Scotland and Wales have their own anthems so creating a new one for Northern Ireland wouldn’t be that revolutionary. Indeed, Armstrong has even had preliminary talks with Snow Patrol’s Gary Lightbody in relation to composing a new anthem, although surely Dana should be first in line for the job?

Armstrong, from a nationalist background himself, (and scorer of that famous goal against Spain in 1982) does talk sense. However, one wonders what the players (and fans) from the Unionist side will say about the proposed change?
