Galatasaray Fans Caught Digging Tunnel Into Schalke 04′s Veltins Arena
By Chris Wright

What with some of the 2,700 away tickets for last night’s Champions League quarter-final ripsnorter between Schalke 04 and Galatasaray going for almost €1,000 before kick-off, it’s understandable that a few fans attempted to find alternative means of watching the game.
A small group of Gala fans – let’s call them “Tom”, “Dick” and “Harry” – took things into their own hands, quite literally in fact, after they were caught be stadium security trying to burrow their way into the Veltins Arena by hand under a perimeter fence.
Schalke sporting director Horst Heldt confirmed the news before the game: ”Yes, that’s right. Some supporters have tried to dig a tunnel with their bare hands.”
Let’s hope they weren’t digging too close to Schalke’s lovely new fan graveyard. Who knows what – or who – they might’ve bumped in to.
