Zenit St. Petersburg 2-4 Borussia Dortmund – Champions League Last 16 1st Leg – 25th February 2014
Two goals in the first five minutes (courtesy of Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Marco Reus) helped to fire Dortmund on their way to a well-deserved victory in Russia. The hosts, still looking sleepy after thei wineter break, only came to life in the second period, when goals from Oleg Shatov and Hulk (courtesy of a spot-kick) made the game interesting, but each time Zenit scored, Dortmund hit back soon after, with Robert Lewandowski bagging a second-half brace.
Despite being without a number of first choice players, Jurgen Klopp’s men were well worth the win and should coast into the last eight.
