Paris St Germain 2-1 Bayer Leverkusen (Agg 6-1) – Champions League Last 16 2nd Leg – 12th March 2014
With a 4-0 first-leg win under their belts, PSG coasted into the last eight of the Champions League courtesy of a 2-1 win in Paris. German international Sidney Sam had given the visitors a sliver of hope with an early goal but strikes from ex-Roma defender Marquinhos and Ezequiel Lavezzi sealed the deal on the night, while a missed penalty from Leverkusen’s Simon Rolfes and Emre Can’s late sending-off added to Bayer’s misery.
It looks as if all that Qatari money could finally be reaping rewards on the European stage.
