After suffering a 3-1 defeat in Portugal in the first leg of this Champions League quarter-final tie, Bayern Munich looked to have quite a task on their hands on Tuesday night. However, the Germans produced a scintillating display to batter Porto and book their place in the last four.

Thiago Alcantara opened the scoring on 14 minutes with a header, his second goal in two games against the Portuguese side this season.

Another headed goal soon followed, this time from defender Jerome Boateng.

Robert Lewandowski put the Germans ahead in the tie on aggregate just before the half-hour mark with yet another header.

It was all so exciting that Pep burst out of his trousers.

Thomas Muller then became Germany’s outright top-scorer in the Champions League (with 27 goals)  as Pep Guardiola’s side ran riot at the Allianz Arena.

A second from Lewandowski then stunned the visitors to put the hosts 5-0 up at half-time.

In the second-half, Bayern put the brakes on, with Porto’s Jackson Martinez getting a (sort of) consolation goal for Julen Lopetegui’s side.

However, to add to their woes on the night, Porto’s Ivan Marcano was sent off late on.

Xabi Alonso then fired home the resulting free-kick to secure a magnificent 7-4 aggregate win for the Bundesliga giants. What a game!

Classy supporters. Though why are they allowed that close to the players in the first place?

Please! A retarded chimp could manage bayern and get them to a champions league semi final – with their squad it should be a toin coss who wins it every year between them and Real. It wouldn’t surprise me if Pep got bored in a year or two then jumped ship (again) to go and manage Celtic (subject to Rangers not being in competition to them) so he can pad out his CV with trophy after trophy before retiring. At least Mourinho is willing to put himself against tough competition week on week and is at least 10% not about personal glory.
