The foolhardy chap you see above you is Juventus fan Nicolo De Marchi and he is currently schlepping 683 miles from Turin to Berlin on the promise of a free Champions League Final ticket.

Indeed, Juve themselves have promised to lay on a complimentary ticket for Nicolo as and when he completes his epic trek across the continent.

It all stems from a Twitter pledge, with Nicolo answering Juve’s ‘if we get to the final…’ hashtag by boldly proclaiming ‘I’ll go on foot!’.

He’s since walked through Italy, Austria, Switzerland and a whole lot of Germany. In fact, as per his latest Instagram update, he’s just made it to the outskirts of Berlin…

Sto entrando a Berlino, che emozione! Ci vediamo per le 14 alla porta di Brandeburgo! #SeAndiamoInFinale

Nicolo was actually scheduled to arrive in Berlin on Thursday but reported in that he’d been delayed by a day after being overcome with fatigue.

Having averaged some 80 miles-a-day since he set off last Wednesday, we’re not overly surprised he was flagging a bit by that point!

Forza Nicolo!

Great story, but someone here’s not a runner- 80 miles a day- walking? The average first-time marathon is a little over 4.5 hrs. If he were to run- not walk- at this rate, 80 miles a day would be close to a continuous 14 hour ordeal.
