Undoubtedly one of the most gifted players of his generation, Roma playmaker Francesco Totti is now well into the autumn of his career.

During the Giallorossi’s Champions League last-16 second-leg clash with Real Madrid on Tuesday night, Totti made a cameo appearance, receiving an incredible reception from the fans of both clubs.

The 39 year-old, who has spent his entire career with Roma, made a late sub appearance in what could well be his last ever Champions League appearance, with the Serie A side 2-0 down on the night (courtesy of goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and James Rodriguez) and 4-0 behind on aggregate.

Totti famously came very close to joining Real back in the mid-2000s and the Bernabeu faithful greeted his cameo with an incredible standing ovation…

Lovely stuff!

Take it from me; watching Totti in March 2016 makes you want to pull your shirt over your head in embarassment for him. Last season, he’d completely lost the sharpness he still had in 2013/14 let’s say, without looking stupid. This season, in his cameo appearances, it’s like watching your fat, drunk uncle at a party try to play with his nephews and sons; cringe to the max.
Spaletti’s had pelters for not playing him and Totti says he feels disrespected; Totti needs to do the decent think and retire. You could say the same for DeRossi who has to be the least mobile plaer after his Royal Spudness in the whole of Serie A.
At Roma, too many peole are in with the bricks and refusing to move on. How do you get rid of the abject DeRossi with the influence his father has at the club.
Really time for a new broom.
