Real Madrid came from behind to beat Paris St-Germain 3-1 on Wednesday, in a highly entertaining clash at the Bernabeu.

Cristiano Ronaldo was once again the match-winner for the La Liga giants, with the superstar becoming the first player ever to net 100 goals for a single club in the Champions League.

However, it was PSG who would take the lead, with midfielder Adrien Rabiot scoring on 33 minutes after a lovely deft assist from Neymar.

The visitors looked slick and organised throughout the encounter, but they would see Real level the scores just before the break, with Ronaldo netting that milestone goal from the penalty spot after Toni Kroos was (just about) fouled in the box by Giovani Lo Celso.

Bizarrely, the ball popped up off the penalty spot just before Ronaldo struck it, which was either down to him having mystical powers (a strong possibility) or because his standing foot moved the turf enough to move the ball.

Ronaldo’s team-mate Kroos also produced this appalling dive in search of another spot-kick.

Luka Modric also got in on the act with another woeful fall to the floor – something that has become a bit of a theme on these big Champions League nights.

Despite continuing to give as good as they got, PSG couldn’t manage another goal, with Ronaldo instead getting his second of the game, via a rather lucky effort coming back off his knee after superb work from Marco Asensio, who was outstanding in a cameo role.

Late on, the hosts would get a third, with Marcelo’s effort deflecting past Alphonse Areola in the Paris goal.

The cracking tie would end 3-1 to Zinedine Zidane’s side, a welcome boost in what has been a dismal campaign for the Spanish giants.

As for PSG, they’ll need a big performance in the return leg in Paris if they are once again to fall short despite the massive amounts of money splurged on the team.
