I’ll be straight with you: I didn’t watch the Champions League final. I was in a Canadian pub in central London – yes, the only Canadian pub – watching the NHL ice hockey playoffs. The CL final was on at the same time, but I could hardly see the big screen for tourists wearing 3D specs.

I’ve since watched the highlights and, um, it looked a bit dull. Not for Inter, of course, but for the neutral – it certainly won’t go down as a classic final. Bayern will forever rue the absence of Franck Ribery, who might have found a way to get past the brilliant Lucio, Julio Cesar and co.

Still, that Mourinho, eh! What a manager he is, well on his way to becoming the greatest gaffer of all time. Who knows what he can achieve with Real Madrid and C-Ron? Can’t wait to find out.

And a word too for Howard Webb, who by most accounts had a good, incident-free game. (By the way, the Telegraph ran an interesting piece about Webb’s CL display.)

“well on his way to becoming the greatest gaffer of all time” Are you serious? Winning the European Cup with 30% possession. Managing teams where he’s guaranteed to win the title. Playing anti-football. Needing the help of the ref (not 1, 2, 3 but 4 decisions went for Inter against Barca) to get through. He’s marginally more successful than Benitez in the Champions League, and he’s won at Porto (when he took over, they were 1 point behind the title-winners), Chelsea (where they spent tons of money) & Inter (who won the title 3 years in a row before he came in).

Oh, that lucky f*ck in the first photo.

Easy with all the Mourinho love. English media are obsessed with him its disturbing. Credit must go to Inters players in a game played every proclaimed football fan in the world should have seen, might have beat any Champions League winning side the last decade with the way they’ve played. 2-0 effortlessly on a thumping Bayern Side who humbled great teams en route to the final. 11 lions on that field, that changed history. Inter are quite deservedly the greatest side this season and arguably one of the best we’ve seen this decade. Ribery would have looked as poor as Messi after the Barca tie.
