Some people just have all the luck, don’t they? Take Preston defender Kevin O’Connor for example, who managed to win a lottery jackpot over Christmas despite not even playing the bloody thing!

The Irish Times report that O’Connor scooped £1million after being gifted a ticket for the (Irish) National Lottery Christmas Millionaire Raffle by his uncle.

The left-back, 22, who only joined Preston from Cork City a couple of months ago, had his winning ticket validated at a supermarket back home in County Wexford on New Year’s Day. The windfall is now to be collected in person from the National Lottery headquarters in Dublin.

O’Connor received the ticket as a Christmas present from his uncle, Peadar, who posted the lucky numbers to his nephew with a brief note that read “I wish you the best of luck”. Little did he know…
