Let’s be having you!
Norwich City tied up the second automatic promotion spot in the Championship with a 1-0 win over Portsmouth at Fratton Park last night meaning that, as Cardiff went down 3-0 to Middlesbrough on the very same evening (the Bluebirds’ heaviest home defeat for a couple of years), the Canaries now cannot be touched with just one game left to play.
Norwich started the 2009/10 in League One on the wrong end of a 7-1 thrashing by Colchester – who were managed by current Canaries honcho Paul Lambert at the time.
Twenty short months later, they have become the first club to seal back-to-back promotions from League One to the Premier League since Manchester City managed it back in 2000.
The usual hum-drum champagne and banners were wheeled out to celebrate Norwich’s return to the top flight, though it seems Lambert celebrated with a neat little magic trick – not something you see every day…
Mucho congrats go out to Lambert and his charges – see you next year boys.
