A star-studded MLS XI, which featured David Beckham and Thierry Henry, ran out 3-2 winners against Chelsea in Pennsylvania on Wednesday night. John Terry and Frankie Lamps were on the scoresheet for the Blues but goals from Chris Wondolowski, Chris Pontius and former Fulham man Eddie Johnson secured the victory for the All-star side.

German wideman Marko Marin started for the west Londoners while Eden Hazard played the last half-hour. Yossi Benayoun also featured as he looks to establish himself in Roberto Di Matteo’s first 11.

On a slightly obtuse note, wouldn’t it be ace to see a Premier League All-Star side play?

Go USA! etc.

Didn’t England do an all star thing during the late 80s/early 90s? I’m sure I read an all star English league team played an all star Italian league team once.

Christ, that’s a loose use of the word ‘stars’

What is that American commentator on about? In what way was that a ‘phenomenal finish’ from Lampard? I appreciate he did take it well considering what could have happened, but really? Phenomenal?

  5. Murray says:

@Professor Erno Breastpinchd, You may not have noticed that “stars” is preceded by “MLS” so it’s okay.

isnt chris pontius that guy from jackass?

The most irritating thing about this is the appearance of Scooter in the goal celebrations. I still dont get why their output, out of all electronic music coming from my country, makes it everywhere in the world. Must be something related to the “beauty” of simplicity.

1987 England vs rest of world. Neil Webb and des walker at their peak. Its on youtube? Maradona played too.
