Ashley Cole Out For Three Months With Broken Ankle, Doubt For 2010 World Cup?
By Ollie Irish

After a relatively innocuous-looking clash with Landon Donovan – who happens to be the star player for England’s first opponents in South Africa – it has been revealed, by Chelsea’s official website, that Ashley Cole has a fractured ankle which will keep him out of action for up to three months. Thanks, Landon, appreciate it.
And so it begins, the inevitable series of injuries to key England players that always seems to happen in a World Cup year. Whilst Cole should be fit in time to travel to South Africa, his match-fitness may be some way short of what Fabio Capello demands.
As Cole is by far the best left-back in England, and in the form of his life, this actually sucks. Can we put Wayne Rooney on ice until the summer?
Of course, the tabloid subplot now involves a certain Wayne Bridge, who may find himself playing alongside old chum John Terry soon enough. That will be a LOT of fun.

As a gooner and a yank, I couldn’t be more proud of Landycakes … wonderful.
Shame on you, EDub!!
Ashley’s a prize jerk but the best left back England have got by a country mile. Having said that, if he’s back to match fitness by May it might not be the worst thing. But that’s a big if.
Get Leighton Baines in there!
I’m right with you on all three counts, EDub!!
Dammit … right after I posted this, I see that Arshavin and Song picked up injuries.
Karma!
LEIGHTON BAINES FOR ENGLAND!
its fractured
as the post clearly reads -_-

Ashley Cole is a fantastic left back but i hope Leighton Baines gets his chance to impress in the England friendlies and such.. he has been a star performer for a while now for Everton and is definately better than Wayne Bridge or Stephen Warnock..
Baines brings something to the table as a left back that cole and bridge do not the ability to actually defend occasionally and I think an england team without cole will look more robust and be generally more equipt for south africa. As for bridge himself jesus christ he is pants, I do think that warnock is a viable contenter mind.
