Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea produced a superb display at the Etihad on Monday night, stopping Manchester City’s juggernaut in its tracks and securing a well deserved 1-0 win. Branislav Ivanovic was the goal hero for the Blues, firing home on 32 minutes as the Blues dominated for large periods of the game. Indeed, Samuel Eto’o, Nemanja Matic and Gary Cahill all hit the woodwork as Chelsea crowded the midfield, with Manuel Pellegrini’s unable to find an answer. The Citizens did go close late on, but overall the points went to the far better side as the title race remains wide open, with both City and Chelsea now two points behind leaders Arsenal.

    Honestly Jose enough of the mind games!!! You’ve now beaten Mancs home and away, beaten liverpool easily…man utd easily…drew away at the emirates – spend the most $$$ in january, have an international backup in every position …why can’t you own the fact you are favourites?

    And if u dont mind – already making the call to sign Cavani and/or Costa.

    Good luck to you for being in that position but no-one is buying the under-the-radar tag.

    If you want an example of building for next season its Arsenal and one or two others.

    And believe me Chelesa are 95% the finished article. Having won the europa and finished in the top four last season – gives them the most momentum of any of the top four to challenge this season.

    I am a bit surprised why he bought Salah, will he be chained to a wall under Stamford Bridge like Marko Marin. Was it to stop liverpools jugganaut? if so I think thats quite sad really – to ruin a career.

    As a United supporter, I used to despise Chelsea.

    But I was actively cheering them on in this game, and jumped up in joy when the full time whistle blew.

    Anything to at least put a temporary halt to the inevitable.

    And yes, I know the irony of saying that as a United supporter.
