A Frank Lampard strike and a John Terry header were enough to see off battling Stoke and keep alive Chelsea’s hopes of a treble.

JT was booed throughout by Stoke’s travelling fans – who were hailed by Tony Pulis in his post-match interview as “brilliant, different class” – but had the last laugh by heading home from Lampard’s corner midway through the second half, to double his side’s lead. On scoring, Terry pulled up his shirt sleeve and pointed to his captain’s armband, a gesture he later described as “for the fans”. Subtle, John, very subtle. Capello must have loved that.

Chelsea will play Aston Villa in the semi finals, with Portsmouth set to take on either Fulham or Tottenham. I predict a Chelsea v Spurs final.
