Chelsea 2-4 Bradford City – FA Cup 4th Round – 24th January 2015

In the days leading up to this Fourth Round tie, Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho stated that it be would ‘disgraceful’ for the Premier League leaders to lose against League One Bradford. Well on Saturday, the Bantams produced a performance and result which will go down in FA Cup history.

Mourinho gave starts to a number of squad players such as Didier Drogba and Kurt Zouma but the Blues still had a formidable starting 11 and goals from Gary Cahill, on 14 minutes, and Ramires, on 38 minutes, put the hosts in the driving seat. However, the visitors, courtesy of the superb Jon Stead, got one back before the break to keep them in the game.

After the break, it was Bradford who blossomed as Chelsea started to struggle with Mourinho sending on Cesc Fabregas and Eden Hazard to kickstart the Blues’ half. However, the Bantams kept pushing for the equaliser and were eventually rewarded when former-Chelsea man Felipe Morais fired home with 15 minutes to go. But rather than defend their draw and take the tie back to Valley Parade, Phil Parkinson’s men sensed this was their day and incredibly netted two more goals before the end. Those goals came courtesy of Andy Hallyday and Mark Yeates as Mourinho’s men collapsed, leaving the League One side to celebrate a famous giant-killing victory.
