Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea moved a step closer to the 14/15 Premier League title after another trademark solid but dour performance at the Emirates.

The first half was peppered with penalty shouts, the first of which saw the impressive Hector Bellerin accidentally catch Oscar in the Gunners’ box.

David Ospina then totally cleaned out the Brazilian who had managed to lob the Colombian first. However, the challenge from the Arsenal ‘keeper could well have seen both a penalty and a red card, but ultimately Michael Oliver gave neither.

Chelsea’s third and best shout for a spot-kick came when Santi Cazorla clearly caught Cesc Fabregas in the box, only for Oliver to show the Chelsea playmaker (who had tumbled theatrically) a yellow card for an apparent dive.

Arsenal had a penalty shout of their own too, however, when Gary Cahill handled in the box, albeit from a close-range shot.

Ramires had the bench chance of an entertaining first-half, with the Brazilian weakly shooting at Ospina when through on goal.

After the break, the Gunners struggled to break down the visitors, although they did create a couple of decent chances, with Mesut Ozil and Danny Welbeck conspiring to fluff their lines at the death with the Blues’ goal beckoning. While Santi Cazorla and Per Mertesacker also had chances to open the scoring.

With no proper striker in their starting line-up, the Blues had come for the draw. And, unsurprisingly, Mourinho and co. got what they came for. As for the Gunners, a draw is a reasonable result although Arsene Wenger’s hoodoo against his Portuguese counterpart continues.
