Champions Chelsea suffered their third league defeat of the season in a rather bizarre game at the Hawthorns.
The Baggies took a surprise lead after just nine minutes, courtesy of a fine long-range striker from Saido Berahino.
Just before the half-hour mark, Cesc Fabregas was sent red in a crazy incident in the West Brom box. Diego Costa had just been booked after he grabbed Gareth McAuley when Fabregas lashed the ball into a group of West Brom players, duly hitting Chris Brunt in the head. God knows why.
After impressing with 10 men for the rest of the first-half, the Blues then shipped a second goal soon after the restart. Through on goal, the livewire Berahino was felled by John Terry in the box, with the challenge resulting a penalty but oddly no card, not even a yellow, for the Chelsea captain.
In-form striker Berahino calmly converted the spot-kick to put Tony Pulis’ side 2-0 up.
On the hour-mark, Brunt sealed the deal for the Baggies, firing past Courtois, who really should’ve done better.
Late on, Jose Mourinho handed former West Brom starlet Izzy Brown his Chelsea debut but the game was already dead and buried.
The Blues stay eight points clear of Man City while West Brom stay 13th.
