Chelsea legend Didier Drogba ended his second trophy-laden spell with the Blues in style on Saturday, when he was carried off the pitch by his team-mates after being substituted on 28 minutes in the game against Sunderland.
The Ivorian hitman was a star performer for Chelsea between 2004 and 2012, helping the Blues to a not-too-shabby haul of three Premier League titles, four FA Cups, two league cups and, of course, a Champions League title in 2012 when he scored the winning penalty. After a few seasons away from the Premier League, Drogba returned to west London ahead of the 2014/15 season and subsequently helped Jose Mourinho’s side to a Premier League and League Cup double.
Maybe the whole carrying-off business was a bit indulgent by the Chelsea players but if anyone deserved it, it was Drogba. A proper legend indeed.
